Though he will always be most closely associated with the Clevaland Cavalers, with the multitude of stops along his basketball professional basketball journey, LeBron James could be described as an NBA rolling stone.
Could he be laiyng his sneakers somewhere else?
Discussing a potential retutn to the the Cavaliers with The Athletic’s Jason Lloyd, the Lakers superstar said, “I’m not saying I’m coming back and playing, I don’t know. I don’t know what my future holds. I don’t even know when I’m free.”
LeBron was drafted no.1 overall in 2003 by the Cavaliers back in 2003 and spent the first seven seasons of his career with the ballclub before departing to Miami in free agency in 2010. He would spend the next four seasons in South Beach, reaching four consecutive NBA Finals, winning back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2013. James returned to Cleveland after the 2014 season, making another four Finals appearances and helping the Cavs hoist their first title in 2016, before leaving for the Lakers in free agency after the 2018 season.
As the Lakers are floundering at 27-31 with little chances to improve their lot this season and the surprising 35-23, with an improving young core, given Lebron’s track record it is not shocking his eye might wander back home.
Outside of a possible return to the Cavaliers, the prevailing thought is that James’ future destination would coincide with where his son Bronny James would land, should the younger James make it to the Association.
Under the current one-and-done rules, Bronny, who plays at Sierra Canyon HS, would be eligible for the 2024 NBA draft.
My last year will be played with my son,” James said. “Wherever Bronny is at, that’s where I’ll be. I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year. It’s not about the money at that point.”
Lebron James
Although 2024 is two years away, considering the meticulous way LeBron takes care of his body and there is no doubt that he would intelligently structure his contract to position himself to be ale to join a team that would draft his son.
A LeBron/Bronny tandem is one I would certainly like to see.
